The Mr B Show: Story

Neal Bailey-Harper is a musician and educator who taught in the Alexandria City Public Schools, and the Prince George’s County Public schools. Neal and his wife Lisa are the parents of two boys who while they were in preschool, the director of the school asked if he would be interested in exchanging tuition for Music classes.

He believed the children would have a very hard time saying his last name, Bailey-Harper, so naturally he had the children call him Mr. B. A music major and drama minor degree in music from North Carolina Central University, which included many stage performances in the drama department and a love and enjoyment of working with children helped bring about the Mr B. Music and Drama program. This led to the MrB Show. A live on sight interactive music and movement program for preschools and a live very interactive stage show for preschools and elementary schools in the District of Columbia, southern Maryland and Northern Virginia area.

Complete with high energy, original music and original as well as his take on standard storytelling Mr. B has been a regional favorite for 25 years!

History:

The Mr. B’s show, and the Mr B. Music and Drama program formally began in August 2001. The first school was the children’s international preschool on Quaker Lane in Alexandria, Virginia. This led to many other private preschools as well as government preschools, including The Foreign Services Institute, The Diplotots preschool the HHS preschool and many other schools located in the DMV area.

The music classroom program consist of Mr. be coming to your location and bringing keyboards, and a variety of other instruments to solicit sing-along programs and show and tell programs so that the children will have the opportunity to have a hands on experience with a variety of instruments. All four musical families of instruments were included in a monthly rotation for the children to see, hear and in many instances play.

Understanding that children are the masters of play Mr. B,s style of delivery, and natural connections with the children makes learning easier and a lot more fun.
